The newly created working group aims to evaluate the feasibility and interest of an early-warning system providing a qualitative estimate during the campaign.

The pilot exercise was limited to two crops of interest for the region: soft wheat and durum wheat The prototype bulletin produced in 2017 aims at highlight the results of the working group and the progress that is still to be made as well as to get a glimpse of the results that could produce a joint approach including all member countries for the realization of such an exercise.

To this end, the document is organized in two parts:

• 1) The detailed results from the country feedbacks on the analysis of Earth observation data provided including ground-based feedbacks;
• 2) A general simulation of the regional synthesis for all of 13 MED-Amin countries. This synthesis is indicative and use the analysis produced by Joint Research Centre
